As Dancers of New York City Ballet, live performance is both our passion and our livelihood. We strive to inspire, transport, and unite audiences through our shared love of ballet. While we hope that a return to the stage is in our near future, as of now, we’re struggling. New York City Ballet has made its best efforts to support us throughout this crisis, including the establishment of the NYCB Relief Fund. However, the loss of revenue from multiple canceled seasons means the company still cannot provide us with adequate financial assistance to sustain us through the end of the year.

The dancers feel this financial burden in myriad ways: international dancers are unable to receive government assistance, young corps de ballet members are ineligible to collect full unemployment benefits, and the immense cost of living in New York City means that even the most senior dancers are struggling to afford housing and other basic necessities. In spite of all of this, we continue to take daily ballet classes in our apartments, dreaming of the day when we will be able to share our art with you again.

As Dancers of NYCB, we hope to create a system of financial support that will carry us through the pandemic and back to the stage. If you are able, please consider making a tax deductible donation to the AGMA Relief Fund, with donations earmarked for “Dancers of NYCB.” All donations will be given to NYCB’s AGMA artists, who include the dancers and stage managers, to supplement our income until rehearsals and performances can safely resume.

In recognition of our collective power and our ability to affect change, we are endeavoring to help our fellow union members in this initiative, and will be donating 10% of any money raised to the general AGMA Relief Fund to help other performing artists across the country who are also in need.

We have always been humbled by the outpouring of love and support from our patrons and audiences. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your generosity at this critical time. One day soon, we will be able to show our gratitude in the most honest way we know--by dancing for you once again.
